David B. Macbeth is a founding vocal/choral faculty member of the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts. He conducts two of the school’s five choral ensembles, along with teaching responsibilities in advanced placement (AP) music theory, piano, and applied vocal techniques. David also serves as the Choirmaster and Director of Music Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, Pa, leading a distinct and comprehensive sacred music program.
David holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education from West Chester University, with concentrations in choral conducting, applied voice, organ, and collaborative piano. While at WCU David received numerous merit and performance scholarships, and served a combined vocal/keyboard department graduate assistantship. David holds the American Guild of Organists Choir Master certification, ranking third nationally among 2013 examinees. In 2015 and 2016 David received consecutive fellowships with the Yale School of Music Norfolk Chamber Music Festival in choral conducting and vocal performance. He has conducted choral ensembles at world class venues such as the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC, Carnegie Hall, New York, King’s Chapel, Boston, and the Dome Cathedral, Riga, Latvia. In 2012 David led the Touring Choir of the Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts to a third place finish in the advanced mixed youth division of the World Choir Games. As a collaborative pianist and organist David has performed throughout the region, most recently as organ soloist with the Artefact Ensemble under Grammy nominated choral conductor Benedict Sheehan, and as a member of the studio accompanist staff of the New School, Mannes Conservatory, New York.
