CCS is a mid-size chamber ensemble, with approximately 50 singers. Our music is eclectic, from Middle Ages through new commissions, from traditional concert music to Video Games Live with the Allentown Symphony. Our seasons typically include a December holiday concert and an April/May spring concert. We support our community by singing shorter concerts at places like Kirkland Village and the Lehigh University Baccalaureate, and always enjoy singing when we can attend an IronPigs baseball game or Phantoms hockey game, or when Emmet Cahill of Celtic Thunder comes to town! We are actively pursuing additional singing opportunities for the whole group as well as a smaller subset of singers.
We are a multi-generational choir with ages from the 20s to the 70s, and a group of us go out socially after rehearsals and concerts. We have a hard-working board made up of singers and consider each other family.
Our rehearsals generally begin the 1st Wednesday after Labor Day in September, and continue through May, depending on concert dates, with a break around the winter holidays. We rehearse at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem on Wednesday evenings between 7 and 9 p.m.
You need prepare nothing for the audition. You will be taken through some exercises for vocal tone and flexibility, ear, and reading ability. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about the group and expectations. Our goal is to remain a mid-size chamber ensemble with the vocal flexibility and balanced blend to sing varied styles and genres with a group of fun-loving and hard-working supportive members who take musical risks toward a meaningful concert that makes an impact on our audience and on ourselves.
If any other questions, you can contact us directly. We can't wait to meet you!
